BLUE CREW BRIEFING
Independent Trading Card News, Market Insights & Collector Education

This Week in the Hobby
Welcome back to another Blue Crew Briefing.
After months of anticipation, the Palworld Official Card Game has officially launched, and now the real test begins.
The pre-release excitement was enormous, but launch week is where we start finding out whether a new trading card game has genuine staying power. Over the coming weeks, collectors will be watching far more than just card prices. Tournament attendance, organised play, product availability and community engagement will tell us much more about the future of the game than launch-day hype ever could.
The next month should be one of the most interesting periods the hobby has seen in quite some time.

Market Watch
Palworld
Launch allocations disappeared quickly across many retailers, showing there was no shortage of demand heading into release.
The next indicator to watch isn't how expensive the first listings become—it's whether stores are placing second and third orders once the initial excitement settles.
Healthy trading card games don't rely on a single launch weekend. They build active communities that continue opening product months after release.
For now, all eyes are on organised play, local events, player numbers and how the singles market develops.
One Piece
While much of the attention this week belongs to Palworld, One Piece continues to mature into one of the strongest long-term TCGs on the market.
Prices across some sealed products have settled compared to earlier this year, creating opportunities for collectors who missed previous releases without needing to chase peak prices.
Collector's Corner
Why launch week prices can be misleading
One of the biggest mistakes new collectors make is assuming launch-week prices represent a product's long-term value.
The reality is that supply is usually at its lowest while excitement is at its highest.
During the first few weeks you'll often see:
- Singles selling well above their long-term value.
- Sealed product commanding premiums due to limited availability.
- Prices moving dramatically as more boxes are opened.
Some cards will hold those values.
Many won't.
If you're buying purely as an investment, patience is usually one of the best strategies.
Inside the Industry
Why retailers sometimes sell out before release
A question we get asked regularly is why stores sometimes advertise "Sold Out" before a product even launches.
The answer is allocations.
Retailers submit orders months in advance, but distributors don't always receive enough product to fulfil every order in full. Instead, stores are allocated a portion of what they requested.
That means a retailer can sell through their entire allocation before launch day, even though demand would have supported much more stock.
It's simply part of how many trading card game releases are managed.
BLUE FLAG Update
Launch week has been a busy one here at BLUE FLAG.
Alongside Palworld arriving, we're continuing to expand our range of premium accessories through Palms Off Gaming, giving collectors more options to protect and display their collections.
We're also putting plenty of work into Blue Crew with the goal of creating Australia's most trusted independent source for trading card news, market insights and collector education.
Coming Up Live
Palworld Rip & Ship Continues
If you missed launch night, don't worry.
We'll continue opening Palworld live over the coming days, chasing the biggest hits while learning more about pull rates, card quality and what collectors can realistically expect from sealed product.
Whether you're opening your own boxes or just want to see more of the set before buying, we'd love to have you join us.
Rumour Mill
One topic that's been generating plenty of discussion since launch is the possibility of "God Packs" existing in the Palworld Official Card Game.
Several videos have appeared online claiming to show booster packs containing multiple premium rarity cards. At this stage, none of these videos have been independently verified, and Bushiroad has not confirmed that God Packs exist within standard retail product.
Whether these videos are genuine, promotional packs or simply misinformation remains unknown.
We'll continue following the story and report back once there's something confirmed.
Worth Watching
Organised Play
One of the strongest indicators of whether a trading card game succeeds long term isn't card prices.
It's organised play.
Keep an eye on local tournaments, store participation and player numbers over the coming months.
Strong organised play creates stronger communities, healthier secondary markets and greater confidence for long-term collectors.
Mobbzy's Take
Every major trading card game has a honeymoon period.
Everyone's excited.
Everyone's chasing hits.
Everyone's convinced they've found the next big thing.
The interesting part comes six months later.
That's when we find out who's still opening packs, who's still playing every week and whether stores are continuing to support the game.
Personally, I'm optimistic.
Not because I think every Palworld box is suddenly going to double in value, but because the foundations look solid. The launch has been strong, collectors are engaged and people genuinely seem to be enjoying opening the product.
Now it's up to the community to keep the momentum going.
One thing's for sure—it's going to be a fascinating few months to watch unfold.
Thanks for reading another Blue Crew Briefing.
Whether you've been with BLUE FLAG since day one or you've only just discovered us, thanks for being part of the community.
