TCG 30th Celebration: The Collector Guide
Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration officially launched on 16 September 2026, marking three decades of the Pokémon Trading Card Game.
This is not a normal expansion with a traditional booster display. It is a special anniversary release built around all-foil packs, 30 different Pikachu cards, day-and-night artwork, modern chase cards and a separate look back at the game's history through the Classic Collection.
There is a lot packed into the release, and not every product arrives at the same time. Here is the clean version.
The key points
- The expansion contains more than 150 cards.
- Every standard 30th Celebration booster pack contains five foil cards and one foil Basic Energy.
- Every standard pack includes one of 30 unique Pikachu rare cards.
- Futuristic Rare debuts as a new premium rarity.
- The set uses linked day-and-night artwork across a range of cards and products.
- Classic Collection cards revisit memorable cards from across the Pokémon TCG's history.
- Products are being released in several waves through December 2026.
One Pikachu rare in every pack
The biggest structural change is the guaranteed Pikachu slot.
Every standard 30th Celebration booster pack includes one Pikachu rare, with 30 different illustrations to collect. That gives every pack an immediate anniversary identity instead of making Pikachu a single chase card buried somewhere in the checklist.
Trying to complete all 30 will still take work. A guaranteed Pikachu does not mean a guaranteed new Pikachu, and duplicates will become part of the chase as collections grow.
For binder collectors, this is likely to become one of the defining sub-sets of the entire release.

Every card in the standard pack is foil
A standard 30th Celebration booster pack contains:
- Five foil cards, including one of the 30 Pikachu rares
- One foil Basic Energy
That means the opening experience is deliberately different from a normal expansion. There is no run of standard non-foil Commons and Uncommons before the hit.
It also means collectors should handle every card carefully. Foil cards can show surface marks, edge wear and curvature more clearly than standard cards, so sleeves should be ready before opening.
aller collections that can be completed without chasing the entire master set.
What is Futuristic Rare?
Futuristic Rare is a new rarity introduced with 30th Celebration.
The treatment uses a metallic, forward-looking design with multicoloured Energy symbols and the 30th Anniversary mark. It is intended to represent the future of the Pokémon TCG, balancing the nostalgic focus of the Classic Collection.
Mew ex and Mewtwo ex have been central to the official promotion of the new treatment.
As always, a new rarity creates heavy launch-week attention. Collectors should separate early asking prices from repeated completed sales before deciding what a card is actually worth.
What is the Classic Collection?
The Classic Collection looks back at notable cards released across the first 30 years of the Pokémon TCG.
It is separate from the 30-card Pikachu chase and the normal all-foil booster structure. The official product showcase specifically lists a dedicated three-card Classic Collection booster inside the 30th Celebration Ultra-Premium Collection.
Do not assume that every standard 30th Celebration pack contains a Classic Collection card. Check the contents of the exact sealed product before buying it for that chase.
Pokémon 30th Celebration product schedule
The official product showcase uses a staged release rather than putting every product on shelves at once.

For opening packs without extra accessories
The Booster Bundle contains six standard 30th Celebration packs. It is the simplest official product for collectors mainly interested in opening the set.
For a broader opening experience
The standard Elite Trainer Box contains nine packs, a Nidorina promo, sleeves, foil Energy cards and the usual playing accessories. The Pokémon Center version contains 11 packs and an additional Pokémon Center-stamped Nidorina promo.
For Classic Collection access
The Day & Night Ultra-Premium Collections each contain 29 standard 30th Celebration packs and one dedicated Classic Collection booster containing three cards, plus premium accessories and promos.
For binder collectors
The Binder Collection is scheduled for 4 December and includes a nine-pocket anniversary binder with five standard packs.
For promo collectors
The smaller boxes and collections each carry different promos. Choose the character and product you actually want rather than treating every sealed product as interchangeable.
A warning about early prices
Anniversary sets attract attention from collectors, casual buyers, sealed collectors and speculators at the same time. That can make the first few weeks noisy.
Keep these separate:
- An advertised listing price
- An accepted offer
- A completed sale
- A pattern of repeated sales
A high listing is not proof of market value. A single sale can also be an outlier.
The release is still unfolding across several product waves, so supply in September is not the complete supply picture for the set.
Blue Flag's take
Pokémon has done the right thing by making the anniversary feel different from a normal expansion.
The guaranteed Pikachu gives every pack a clear identity, the all-foil format makes opening feel special, and the day-and-night concept gives collectors something to build beyond a list of expensive chase cards.
The mistake will be assuming every product or every early single price is automatically worth chasing.
Pick the part of the release you actually care about. That might be all 30 Pikachu cards, one side of the day-and-night artwork, the Classic Collection, a favourite promo or a sealed display piece.
Collecting with a clear target is usually cheaper and more enjoyable than trying to buy everything during launch-week noise.
